The man was charged with three counts of sexual intercourse without consent which police allege happened in a car on Wednesday.

Police allege the man's car, a black Holden Calais, was parked in Gungahlin.

The alleged victim was a 29-year-old woman.

The court was told yesterday the two were workmates.

The prosecutor opposed bail because police had been unable to do further investigations, which included checking the man's car, and that the man may have attempted to interfere with the victim or any witnesses.

A police warrant was being prepared to search the man's car.

ACT Policing's Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team arrested the man after conducting a tape-recorded interview with him on Friday.

The alleged victim then saw a forensic medical officer.

The man's defence argued the prosecution's concerns about granting bail were speculative and that there would have been CCTV footage from a Canberra club which would have shown, for example, what the man was wearing.

Magistrate Bernadette Boss refused bail solely because police had not yet had time to execute search warrants. Dr Boss said there was a chance the man would be granted bail again when he appeared in court tomorrow.
