A man armed with a machete was involved in a lengthy stand off with police in Macquarie on Wednesday.

Police said a 31-year-old Macquarie man was arrested after the incident, at his home.
"Around 11.40am, police attended the man’s house in Macquarie after he contacted police and made several threats," police said in a statement.
"At the house, the man armed with a machete confronted officers and made threats towards their safety. Around 1pm the man surrendered peacefully to police after a lengthy negotiation. No one was injured during the incident."
The man was taken into custody and will be charged with possessing an offensive weapon with intent.
