A man driving a Ford Territory who would not stop at a random breath testing station managed to escape police after leading them on a wild chase through southern Canberra, police say.

The car allegedly drove on the wrong side of the road with its lights off, and drove at a police car when it was cornered.
ACT police are looking for the driver and calling for witnesses to the incident, which began about 11.05pm on Friday, December 28.
They said they twice directed the driver of a black Ford Territory to pull over into the random breath testing station on Tharwa Road, Conder, but he drove off.
Police found the car on a nearby street, "where the vehicle switched off its headlights and drove on the wrong side of the road to evade police".
"A short time later, the same Ford Territory was seen to enter another cul-de-sac in Conder. When police approached and attempted to seal the roadway, the Ford Territory drove at the police car, prompting officers to reverse their vehicle to avoid a certain collision," police said in a statement.
Police said the driver had been wearing a white baseball cap and his car had NSW registration plates. They ask anyone who saw the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
