Police are investigating a potential attempted abduction of a schoolgirl this morning in a second incident this month involving concerning behaviour of a man driving a white van.
ACT Policing have confirmed they took a call from a member of the public after a distressed girl reported being asked to get into a van on a street in Macarthur in Tuggeranong.
The member of the public took down registration details of the vehicle and a description of the man as wearing a flouro vest.
Police have since spoken with the girl, believed to be student of Holy Family primary school in Gowrie.
A police spokesman later confirmed the girl was not asked to "get into a van". The van was a courier vehicle driving slowly for safety reasons.
He said the incident was not connected to a suspicious incident involving a man in a white van in Stirling on August 7.
In that incident, and 11-year-old boy was followed home by a man in a van as he walked along Fremantle Drive.
That was the second time the boy had been followed by the man, although the earlier incident was not reported.
Anyone with information about either incident should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or act.crimestoppers.com.au.
