Detectives from ACT Policing's Taskforce Nemesis - which focuses on the activities of outlaw motorcycle gangs - seized the weapon with ammunition from the Ngunnawal property around 4pm.
According to a police spokeswoman, the weapon will be forensically tested to determine whether it was used in a number of shooting incidents reported in recent months.
The spokeswoman said detectives acted on information received from a member of the public and urged Canberrans to be vigilant of outlaw-motorcycle gang activities.
"Information can be provided anonymously and rewards may be issued for information that leads to an arrest and/or successful prosecution," she said.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au.
