The man had sustained several injuries, and was found by friends lying on the floor of the living room of a modern Hall Street unit on Saturday afternoon. The friends managed to get inside the unit, and called paramedics. Police arrived on the scene later.
Police say the nature of the injuries led them to believe the death is suspicious, but are yet to publicly declare it a murder.
ACT Policing said on Monday they were waiting for an autopsy to be completed before commenting further.
That autopsy was conducted on Tuesday. Police are expected to release more details, including the man's identity, on Wednesday.
