Police found Norma Cheryl Woutersz, 56, dead in her home after they were called shortly before 6pm on Friday.
They charged Gabriela Woutersz with murder and she is due to face the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The defendant refused legal representation when she first appeared in court on Saturday and told Magistrate Karen Fryar: "I 100 per cent did the murder."
"I don't need a lawyer when I'm pleading guilty," she said. "There's no reason to put it over, I killed Cheryl Woutersz."
She did not apply for bail and no formal plea was entered.
The duty lawyer suggested to the magistrate that she had problems with bipolar disorder.
Police have remained tight-lipped on the investigation and refused to comment on her cause of death.
They initially said the nature of the victim's injuries led them to treat the death as a homicide.
ACT Policing will prepare a report for the Coroner once the results of the post-mortem are known.
