But the party has not put a price tag on the election commitment and said yesterday that the cost of duplicating the road between Sulwood and Drakeford drives would be determined by a tendering process.
Opposition leader Zed Seselja said the pledge would fall ''well within'' the Liberals' $700 million plan for the territory's roads.
''This is basic planning and it's something that Canberrans expect from their local government,'' he said.
''The record of 11 years of ACT Labor when it comes to road infrastructure has amounted to budget blowouts, project delays, and under-delivery due to a lack of long-term planning.''
Canberra Liberals transport spokesman Alistair Coe said duplicating the stretch of road would alleviate congestion during peak hour and improve travel times for motorists and buses driving into the city.
ACT Labor, meanwhile, pledged $5 million yesterday for community sports. The money will fund the next stage of the Lyneham precinct upgrade and will provide community amenities such as a pavilion, barbecue area, change rooms, picnic areas and canteen facilities, as well as community recreation space.
''The $5 million community hub will be the heart of the Lyneham Sport Precinct,'' Chief Minister Katy Gallagher said.
''The facility will provide high-quality amenities to service the sports groups using the precinct and will include a pavilion, change rooms, canteen facilities and a barbecue area.
''The facility will also have indoor space capable of supporting the needs of travelling school groups, as well as space that can be utilised by the community.''
The ACT Greens yesterday said they would be hosting a ''mythbusters'' session this week for voters wanting to learn more about the party.
The four Greens MLAs and Greens candidates will answer questions at King O'Malley's pub in Civic from 5.30 pm on Thursday.
The informal forum is designed to address common misconceptions about the Greens.
