The control plan must be approved before a development application can be lodged with the Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate.
The authority has received a request from CB Richard Ellis to establish a development control plan for Part Block 1633 Tuggeranong. The site, north of the Old Cooma Road, has been identified as a possible location for a solar generation plant.
The ACT government is seeking proposals to support the development of up to 40 megawatts of large-scale solar generation in the ACT.
The authority has received two other applications for development control plans. They are from ActewAGL Retail and Beacon Hill Consulting. A decision on those applications is expected shortly.
As the Tuggeranong site is next to an approach route, under the National Capital Plan, the authority is required to produce a development control plan. It will include building height, setbacks and design, landscape character, access and parking.
NCA chief planner Andrew Smith said yesterday the draft control plan had been prepared to guide the future development of the site within the framework of the National Capital Plan and the Territory Plan. The draft development control plan maintained the integrity of the approach route and ensured the setting, buildings and purpose of development enhanced the area.
The plan can be downloaded at www.nationalcapital.gov.au/haveyoursay, or viewed at the authority's reception and the National Capital Exhibition. A public information session will be held at the authority's offices on August 23 from 12pm to 1.30pm.
