My ideal weekend in Canberra would be: A sleep in - both days please, followed by a cooked breakfast with great coffee. After that I would like to spend time with my family and catch up with friends – which should probably include wine and fine cheeses.
My favourite place to eat out in Canberra is: Quite honestly with three kids we don't get to eat out often so we tend to entertain at home. We both like to cook and have a big dining table for lots of guests. The annual Schnitzelfest is simply not to be missed.
What I love most about working in theatre: Over the years I have been lucky enough to work with a diverse bunch of extraordinary talent - directors, actors and everyone on the technical side - and they have all influenced and inspired me. They are my second family. I also love that I have been able to share the stage management role with my mother, Joyce, on several occasions, as she is the person who introduced me to theatre.
I met my husband in theatre: It played such an important part in our relationship that we got married on the stage of Theatre 3 in 1997. Our oldest daughter made her crewing debut at three months old in a season of Rep's "Old Time Music Hall". Finding crew "blacks" for a baby is very difficult.
My most embarrassing experience as a stage manager was: Having to play the role of Poppy for the final two nights of Noises Off in 1995 when one of the actors was injured. Luckily it was a show where I was sharing stage management with my mother. In one scene I was left standing in full light in my underwear – an uncomfortable experience for a person used to being swathed in black and existing in the half light.
Building a Tardis in my backyard was: a tribute to Doctor Who - a long-time favourite show; an exercise in research, engineering and construction; and a wonderful excuse for a house party! Aside from that it was a great thing to see out of the kitchen window.
