Police are appealing for witnesses to the "brazen" attack where the Diamond King Designs shop in Gungahlin Village was targeted by thieves who gained entry with a stolen Subaru shortly after 5am on Tuesday morning.

Police said the silver Subaru Impreza wagon was driven into the shopping complex, breaking through the doors from a carpark at the rear of the complex.

"The vehicle has been driven into the arcade complex, driven into the front of a jewellery shop inside the centre, and items stolen from the premises," police said in a statement.

"After forcing entry to the jewellery store, the driver then drove out of the complex through a second set of doors on Gungahlin Place."

Brumbies baker Colin Pick said he was holding a freshly-baked tray of the criss-crossed Easter treats when he heard "an incredible noise".

"It all happened in a bit over a minute, there was the huge screech of tyres and I looked up and saw the car coming towards me.

"I thought I was going to get killed," Mr Pick said.

He said he did not hear alarms but saw early shift staff from the Coles opposite his store also come out to see what had happened.

"It was mayhem, the noise was incredible and I could smell the car and burning rubber," he said.

Peter Kabadanis, a worker called in to assist with the clean-up, said he arrived to a huge mess.

"All the glass was broken and the glass door was shattered," he said.

The value of the items stolen is still being determined, as are the number of people involved in the burglary. Police believed at least two people may have been in the vehicle.

The Subaru used in the ram raid was reported stolen and later recovered on Ellenborough Street in Lyneham.

It's the second crime of its type in two days after a jewellery store in Kippax Fair was burgled on Monday morning, and police believe the two crimes are linked.

"Again a jewellery store has been hit this morning, and again a Subaru has been involved in it," a police spokeswoman said.

"We are calling for witnesses to both incidents. Surely at that time of the morning there would be workers, there would be bakers, there would be people around who have seen something. It's very brazen."

One of the owners of the jewellery store sat glumly at a cafe table outside the shop, as other businesses contemplated the fall out.

Poetry in Flowers employee Andrew Daskalakis arrived at 7am to see the police investigation was already underway.

He said incident had already had an impact on trade at the centre.

"People have already said they thought we were closed," he said.

"We have moved half of our stock to the workroom because it will interrupt trade today at least."

He hoped things would be fixed quickly so shoppers weren't deterred from using the centre prior to the Easter weekend.

"The main issue is that people can't get in through the entrances," he said.

"Once the doors are fixed and people know they can come in, everything will be back to normal."
