The fog is ominous yet beautiful as it hangs over the surface of Lake Burley Griffin just beyond the sole silhouette of a man seated on a park bench with room left for company.
The photograph was taken by Kingston foreshore resident Drew Sheldrick in June on one of his daily walks to work at Parliament House.

For him, the necessary walk is enhanced by the natural displays he sees each day, even in the depths of winter.
“Our fogs are really quite spectacular in winter,” he said.
Geoff Howe, of Gilmore, also battled the early morning chill when he photographed a team of rowers emerging from the fog at the mouth of the Molonglo River.
“It was pretty surreal. You could hear them coming through the fog and then they just disappeared again – as quickly as they came,” Mr Howe said.
Mr Howe has been attempting to make regular photographic excursions this winter and believes braving the cold mornings is worth it.
“Especially around the lakes, if the fog isn’t too thick and when there is a bit of sunlight peeping through … it’s really beautiful,” Mr Howe said.
But it isn’t just seasoned locals who are braving the infamous ACT cold and capturing these images. Visiting South Australian tourist, P.J. Taylor has captured the brighter side of Belconnen with and image of stunning Lake Ginninderra sunset.
“It was just fantastic, just beautiful. As a photographer I was lapping it up, just walking around and snapping away. The setting was beautiful,” Mr Taylor said.
