Severely injured 10-week-old kitten abandoned near drain in Weston

A 10-week-old kitten has had to have its leg amputated after it was abandoned in Weston on Wednesday morning, RSPCA ACT inspectors said.

The kitten was found severely injured near a drain near Bunny Street and dropped to the organisation's Weston shelter.

Vets were then forced to carry out an emergency amputation of its leg, according to the RSPCA.

"We were quite shocked at the physical condition of this poor kitten when it arrived," RSPCA ACT Senior Inspector Catherine Croatto said.

The vets will also now perform additional checks on the animal.

The organisation has labelled the case "confronting" and are looking to the public for help in finding the perpetrator

Any member of the public with information is urged to contact RSPCA ACT Senior Inspector Catherine Croatto on 0408 421 255.
