Canberra Motorcycle Centre offroad salesman Brendon Bassett has joined forces with the Make a Wish foundation to help an 11-year-old boy with chronic kidney disease live his dream of owning a KTM125 motocross bike.
Nicholas Antone has ridden motorbikes since he was four years old.
Mr Bassett said the foundation phoned the centre a few weeks ago to help grant Nicholas' wish.
"I was the one who picked up a phone call from one of the case managers at the Make a Wish foundation – they were looking for a quote to purchase a bike off us to grant a wish for a little boy," he said.
"I was stoked to be involved."
The centre liaised with Nicholas' mother to supply the bike and protective gear, which was delivered to the Wagga family's home a couple of weeks ago.
"He didn't know it was coming. We hid in his garage and Nicholas' mum asked him to get something out of the garage," Mr Bassett said.
"I took him for a little ride on the bike in the backyard. It was really moving. Just seeing smile, it's something I'll cherish for the rest of my life."
Mr Bassett hoped the bike would help Nicholas push through his sickness and treatment.
He said he would visit Nicholas in the next fortnight to take him for a ride.
