The Landcare for Singles tree planting event is 9.30am to 1.30pm this Saturday on a Cotter Road farm, Stromlo. (Map details available upon booking.)

Funded by the National Landcare Programme, the speed planters' hard work will support efforts to restore endangered Box-Gum Woodlands in the ACT.

Landcare spokeswoman Rebecca Palmer-Brodie said it was a "really unique way to not only help the local environment, but also meet some like-minded people".

"The great thing about our event is that even if you don't meet your match, you will still go home feeling good about yourself after having done something great for the environment. There's also the added bonus of live music and a free tasty lunch," she said.

"A friendly Greening Australia leader will be on hand to offer planting guidance. Participants will get a new planting partner every eight minutes, so there is every chance you might meet someone special."
