An IGA employee was taken to hospital after being slashed in the face with a machete during an attempted robbery in Isabella Plains on Tuesday night.

About 7:50pm, two men wearing black balaclavas approached the staff member outside the supermarket on Ellerston Avenue.
They threatened him with a machete and ordered them into the store, where they threatened a second staff member and demanded cash.
"A struggle ensued and the [first] staff member was hit with a machete a couple of times in the face," said Tony Crocker, the acting officer in charge of criminal investigations.
"He was later taken to Canberra Hospital where he received stitches for a laceration to his face."
Detective Sergeant Crocker said ACT Policing were also investigating whether the incident could be linked to other recent armed robberies.
The men fled the store on foot without taking anything.
ACT Policing's Criminal Investigations team is investigating and seeking witnesses to the incident, who are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
