A staff member has been sacked and a second has quit as investigations into an alleged $1.65 million embezzlement at the ACT Public Trustee's Office continue.

But charges are yet to be laid about a year after ACT Policing began inquiring into whether there had been criminal wrongdoing.
A report on the alleged fraud by audit firm KPMG has been completed but will not be made public.
The Public Trustee has reimbursed $1.4 million to its clients, including interest, and expects to repay the full amount by mid-year.
In March last year, The Canberra Times revealed the office had stood down two staff after it discovered money was allegedly fraudulently taken from people whose assets it held in trust.
The small government agency – with fewer than 30 staff – manages the funds of Canberra's most vulnerable, including people who are unable to manage their own affairs due to disability, illness or age.
The office also administers deceased estates.
In 2013-14, the office had $320.7 million under management – up from $293.03 million the previous year – and, at June 30, had been appointed as financial manager for 501 people.
The suspect transactions took place over seven years and are believed to include debit card fraud, thefts from cash machines, contractor kickbacks, and false paperwork trails.
The report highlighted the agency's internal bookkeeping for the 2012-13 period as problematic, saying it had been prone to error due to the lack of an accounting system and use of manual processes used to record transactions.
Public Trustee Andrew Taylor said most of the funds had been reimbursed with interest.
"The amount reimbursed to date is $1.4 million including interest," he said.
"It is expected that all accounts will be fully reimbursed within the current financial year."
The two staff members under investigation were initially stood down on full pay.
But Mr Taylor said one staff member had since been dismissed and the other resigned.
No other staff members had been implicated in any alleged wrongdoing.
Mr Taylor said the KPMG report made a number of recommendation on internal controls.
"That report is marked 'commercial in confidence' and it is not proposed to release the report."
