Police said in a statement that they attempted to stop the white Nissan Navara shortly after it was stolen from a car park in Phillip about 10.15pm on Wednesday.
The driver instead reversed the vehicle into the police car before driving off. The 20-year-old Conder man was later found and arrested.
He has been charged with driving a motor vehicle without consent and is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday, where police will oppose bail.
