Trevor John Hobbs, 48, was charged with being an accessory after the fact to the murder of Jason Hollingshed, 46, whose body was found at the Stuart Flats in Griffith on February 29.
The court has previously heard that Mr Hobbs lived next to the alleged killer Scott Jamie Cole, 40, while the victim lived on the floor below.
Police allege Mr Cole inflicted stab wounds to Mr Hollingshed's neck, back, and arms during a violent confrontation over money owed.
Mr Hobbs was accused of running up the stairs after hearing the fight, to find Mr Hollingshed on the ground and making gurgling sounds.
It was alleged Mr Hobbs and Mr Cole used alcohol swabs to clean the knife, before hiding it in his apartment. Police were alleging he had helped Cole invent a story suggesting he was acting in self-defence before police arrived.
But in the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday, Magistrate Bernadette Boss dismissed the charge against Mr Hobbs, after the prosecution said there was not enough evidence to press ahead.
