A cow was seen chilling by the road at the popular Canberra park near Lake Burley Griffin.
Yarralumla Play Station has confirmed the cow was in fact Herb, a popular member of their mini farm.
Manager Tara Johnson said Herb was spotted almost immediately after escaping his pen.
She said the animal was easily tempted home with some hay. His pen was being secured.
"He seems to be a bit of a show jumper at the moment," she said.
"As we speak, we are putting up a whole lot of chicken wire.
"He's absolutely fine. It's not a regular occurrence."
Earlier, Stacey King shared an image of the bovine discovery on social media.
She said the animal was alone and looked quite content grazing in the park.
Yarralumla Play Station owner Jason Perkins said they were still determining the exact circumstances surrounding Herb's escape.
He said a gate may have been left open a fraction too long during feeding.
"He certainly wouldn't have jumped over the fence," he said.
"There is a 6-foot fence going the whole way around.
"Luckily, he is super friendly."
