A 15-year-old boy is in hospital after his bicycle and a car collided on Yamba Drive today.

The boy was riding his bike across the intersection of Yamba Drive and Launceston Street in Phillip about 12.50pm when the collision occurred.

He was knocked from his bike and taken to hospital by paramedics.

Police said the boy was in a serious condition, but the full extent of his injuries was unknown.

The collision meant police closed a southbound lane of Yamba Drive between Launceston Street and Wisdom Street for more than two hours.

The lane was reopened about 3.30pm.
