Travis McLachlan, 18 of Curtin, will now face sentencing for the aggravated robbery, which took place on a bus from Watson to the Civic interchange about 11.35pm Wednesday.
In a media statement, police said the offender pulled out a Stanley knife when the bus arrived in Civic and threatened the driver, demanding cash. Police said the driver handed over a bag of money, containing mostly coins.
McLachlan then fled but was later seen by police walking through Bega Court in Reid about an hour later.
Police said he ran from them, but was chased by officers, who caught him. Police allege he had a Stanley knife and a large number of coins.
McLachlan appeared briefly in the ACT Magistrates Court before Magistrate Robert Cook on Thursday.
He pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery, and will be sentenced at a later date. The court heard he is facing additional charges. The teenager will remain in custody.
