Three teenagers who tried to rob an elderly couple at knifepoint ran off after the victims refused to hand over a wallet and a mobile phone, police say.

The couple were walking on the bike path near the basketball courts at Lake Tuggeranong College about 4.30pm on Wednesday when three male teenagers with their faces covered approached, ACT Policing says.
One of the teenagers allegedly pulled out a knife and demanded the couples' wallet and mobile phone.
When they refused, the teenagers ran away towards the skate park.
Police believe they have identified the three teenagers and arrested two people, but are asking more witnesses to come forward.
The first of the teenagers is described as of a slim build and he was wearing a dark-coloured beanie, a grey hooded jumper and dark-coloured pants.
The second was of a large build, wearing a red hooded jumper and dark pants, while the third was of a slim build with a hooded jumper.
Two teenagers are expected to appear in the ACT Children's Court on Monday in relation to the incident.
