Christmas has come early for one incredibly lucky Canberra family who now have 30 million reasons to celebrate.
The family will be celebrating Christmas as multimillionaires after winning a whopping $30 million in Oz Lotto.
Canberra's luckiest lady bought the winning ticket at newsXpress in Woden on December 16, but was unaware she was the proud owner of the golden ticket for nearly a week.
"I was finishing off my Christmas shopping today and saw a sign at the outlet urging customers to check their entries because they'd sold the $30 million winning Oz Lotto ticket," the Canberra mother said.
"I thought I'd better check my Oz Lotto entry but I never considered that I actually had the winning ticket. I never win anything."
The family - whose identity has not been revealed - plan to pay off their mortgage and want to fly first class on their next overseas holiday.
The winning numbers of last Tuesday's Oz Lotto draw were 25, 21, 11, 42, 20, 45 and 4. The supplementary numbers were 23 and 1.
For the rest of us unlucky punters, there is $5 million up for grabs in the Christmas night Powerball.
December has proved to be a very lucky month for Canberra in the lotto stakes and the Woden lotto win is the ACT's third in just a month.
Evatt Newsagency earlier this month sold what was its third winning lottery ticket in six months, making one Canberran $1 million richer.
Less than a week later Gungahlin Centre News sold a $1 million winning lotto ticket.
