Another collision less than a kilometre down the road was still affecting traffic as of 7.15pm.
The first accident was reported just before 6pm, at the intersection of Hindmarsh Drive and the Tuggeranong Parkway.
It took just over an hour to clear the cars from the scene, during which an ACT Policing spokesperson said there had been lengthy traffic disruptions.
She said there were no reports of injuries as a result of the accident.
A second accident on Hindmarsh Drive, closer to Woden, has currently closed two-lanes and there are reports of coolant on the road.
The two accidents are within a kilometre of each other.
The two-car collision was reported just minutes after the first crash, and fire crews have been called to the scene.
There is no word on any injuries from the second accident as of yet, but a spokesman for ACT Policing said motorists should avoid the area.
"Take another way home," he said.
A third accident at a private property was also reported in Weston Creek about 5.45pm on Thursday.
There was a three-car collision on Eugenia Street in Rivett and a garage door has reportedly been damaged. Traffic has not been affected by this third accident.
