In 2011-12, the 2905 postcode had the highest number of bankruptcies in the ACT and the greatest frequency of bankrupts compared to the general ACT population, figures published by the Insolvency and Trustee Service Australia show.
The 2905 area code includes the suburbs of Bonython, Calwell, Chisholm, Gilmore, Isabella Plains, Richardson and Theodore.
There were 170 bankrupts in the ACT in 2011-12, down from 189 the previous year.
The number of people with debt agreements climbed from 100 in 2010-11 to 145 in 2011-12.
In the 2905 postcode, there were 30 bankrupts in 2011-12, or one bankrupt to every 1595 people.
This compared to a territory-wide bankruptcy rate of one bankrupt to every 2092 people.
The Belconnen postcode of 2615 has the second-highest number of bankruptcies in the ACT, recording 26 bankrupts in 2011-12.
The 2615 postcode includes Charnwood, Dunlop, Florey, Flynn, Fraser, Higgins, Holt, Kippax, Latham, Macgregor, Melba and Spence.
The 2615 area had 22 residents with debt agreements - the highest number in the ACT.
The ACT's overall bankruptcy of one to every 2092 people was the lowest in Australia.
Bankruptcy was most common in Tasmania, where there was one bankrupt to every 556 people.
