Firefighters are battling to extinguish a fire at a paper mill just west of the ACT.

The fire started in a paper storage area of the Visy Paper Mill in Tumut about 8pm last night.
The fire had burned through paper reels which were stored in at the mill, until it was brought under control about 10pm.

A spokeswoman for NSW Rural Fire Service said the blaze may take a number of days to fully extinguish.
A forklift is being used to pull out individual paper reels from the storage area, the spokeswoman said.
ABC Radio is reporting there have been three injuries as a result of the fire.
