Crowds came in droves to check out Hustle & Scout and The Forage twilight markets in their new home at the Canberra Airport's Hangar 47 in Fairbairn on Saturday, after relocating from New Acton.
Hustle & Scout founder Tegan McAuley said it was overwhelming to see such a turnout and was thrilled to see Canberrans followed the event.
"We had 650 people through in the first 20 minutes," she said. "As soon as it hit two o'clock everyone started pouring through the gates."
Ms McAuley said extra space meant more room to showcase a wider range of fashion, food and beverage stalls.
"Today we had 13 more designers than we did last time," she said. "There are 53 stalls, some from as far as South Australia, Victoria and all around NSW."
Colorful bunting and lanterns strewn across the cavernous ceiling of the airport hangar mirrored the lively atmosphere of the large crowds milling below.
The event featured a pop-up bar, a veritable footy nook to sit and watch the AFL grand final, live music and a free photo booth.
Armed with impressive retro style and roller skates, April's Caravan roving model Mel Rowland said the new venue was far more comfortable.
"I think the venue is heaps better," she said. "There's more room and more awesome stalls."
Keen Sydney Swans supporters Rod Richards and Clinton Squires travelled to Canberra with their wives to visit Floriade.
Although the Swannies ultimately fell short against the Hawks, Mr Squires said he was grateful for a pew near the big screen.
"It's a magic combination shopping there, footy here," he said. "The girls are happy to shop if we are happy to sit here."
The Forage founder Belinda Neame said the new location had a festival atmosphere.
"The atmosphere has remained true to what we have created and the crowd has just brought it with them," she said.
"With its street-form, the live music element and the roving models, that all adds to that performance festival feel.
"We have got the crowds so it's more comfortable but certainly still buzzing."
