A fire has caused an estimated $80,000 worth of damage to a Curtin unit, firefighters have said.

Crews were called to the one-bedroom Walsh Place shortly after 1.30pm on Wednesday.

The unit was unoccupied at the time but a resident of the unit above was forced to evacuate, an ACT Emergency Services spokesman said.
Firefighters managed to contain the fire to the living room but not before about $80,000 worth of damage was caused.
Two pumpers were used to extinguish the fire about 2.20pm.
