A crane building Canberra's newest hospital, which was the subject of a naming competition for school students, had to be temporarily shut down over safety concerns.

The crane at the University of Canberra hospital site was shut down after WorkSafe issued a prohibition notice to fix a "spooling issue" where a cable was not correctly wrapped or stored onto a drum.
It has now been fixed and the notice lifted, with the crane again operational.
The notice was issued after a WorkSafe audit of cranes in the ACT.
WorkSafe commission Greg Jones said an improvement notice was also issued for a cracked windscreen, but it was being addressed as a less urgent matter.
"This shows the importance of the WorkSafe audits on crane operations and the need for all operators to be vigilant with their maintenance and operating procedures," he said.
A competition was run earlier this year where students could give the crane a name.
The name that won was "Galu" which is the Ngunnawal word for crane and was print in large letter on the side of the tallest piece of equipment at the site.
Installed at the site in June, the crane will remain there for much of the construction phase of the new hospital, which is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
