Police tried to stop the dark coloured Holden Commodore utility after the driver was seen performing a burnout at the roundabout intersection of Woodcock Drive and Knoke Avenue around 1.30am.
The 20-year-old driver, from Gordon, instead accelerated away on Woodcock Drive and stopped in a driveway after about 30 seconds. Both the driver and passenger fled on foot, but were taken into custody.
The driver was taken to Tuggeranong Police Station, where he underwent breath analysis and returned a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.092.
The driver, whose license had expired, was issued with an Immediate Suspension Notice and had his vehicle seized by police.
The man will face court, with a date yet to be set, while the passenger released a short time after being taken into custody.
