'Unprovoked' assault on 15-year-old

February 13, 2012

A 15-year-old boy was allegedly punched repeatedly in the head while walking along a footpath in Macquarie yesterday, in what police describe as an unprovoked assault.

The teenager was approached by an "unknown man" between Catchpole Street and Blackman Crescent about 3.10pm, police say.

The man, believed to be aged in his 20s, began to punch the teenager in the side of the head.

Police say he was knocked to the ground and the alleged offender ran off.

The victim suffered "swelling and a cut to the side of his head", according to police.

A woman came to help the victim just after the incident. Police believe she may have witnessed the alleged assault and are seeking to speak with her.

The offenders is described as Caucasian, 180cm, with a lean build, broad shoulders and short blonde hair. He was wearing black pants and jacket.
