The association has 7000 members and represents a mind-boggling array of libraries: 1600 national, state and public libraries; 9000 school libraries, 42 university libraries, almost 400 TAFE libraries and 4000 corporate libraries.
But the prestigious appointment is not the only reason for her smile.
Little is a mad-keen Adelaide Crows supporter and her team is currently sitting equal second on the AFL ladder (in terms of points, but fifth on percentages).
She is also the ACT Adelaide Crows Supporters Club president and swears she didn't get the job because she is the only member in town.
''No, we're a very active and vibrant group,'' she said, emphatically.
And will it be the Crows' year this year?
''I'm very very realistic,'' she said. ''They're babies so next year or the year after. I'd be delighted if it was this year.''
Little recently finished knitting scarves in the Crows colours for her dogs Wally Cleaver and Harvie Crumpet. ''And they ride around in a little red sports car called Rory Sloane,'' she said, referring to the popular Crows midfielder.
