The victim's ordeal began tree days after Christmas in 2013, when two men, Michael Aaron Le Clair, 28, and David Achanfuo Yeboah, 37, came to his Franklin home.

He had organised a large cannabis deal, worth roughly $26,000, between the two men and a dealer known as "Big G".

But the deal went badly awry.

Big G took the victim's money and drove off without giving him the drugs.

Le Clair and Yeboah were furious, believing the victim was in on the plot to steal their money.

Le Clair went to his apartment with a knife, held it to his throat, and "frog-marched" him out to a Ford Territory, where Yeboah was waiting in the driver seat.

They drove to Theodore and asked for support, which saw a second car with unknown occupants turn up.

At one stage, the victim managed to escape.

He ran down the road and, seeing a group of people ahead, began screaming for help.

He then turned down a driveway, sprinting from his captors, jumping fences, and eventually returning to the road. He said he was being chased by a dog that had been in the Ford Territory with him.

Eventually, the victim was recaptured.

He was then driven across the border to NSW, where he was assaulted, and abandoned in remote bushland.

The victim was forced to walk for hours before he found a house, where the resident called police and an ambulance.

Le Clair and Yeboah pleaded guilty just before their trial last year, and faced sentencing for the crimes in the ACT Supreme Court on Friday.

Crown prosecutor Mark Fernandez read out a victim impact statement prepared by the complainant, in which he spoke of his injuries and ongoing psychological distress.

"I had nightmares every night for about six to eight months afterwards," he wrote.

"I might stay up late, trying not to think about it, or just trying to get it out of my head."

The victim said he moved interstate, but still could not relax, always fearing they would return to find him.

"I feel as though I am basically just waiting for them to come and get me," he said.

Both Le Clair, represented by barrister Alyn Doig, and Yeboah, represented by Richard Thomas, called character evidence on their clients' behalf, which suggested they were turning their lives around after the attack, and on the path to rehabilitation.

Yeboah gave evidence himself, apologising for his actions, and speaking of his efforts to live a pro-social and stable life, while reducing his significant cannabis use.

"This is my first time I've ever been in trouble for anything like this," he said.

"I feel terrible about the whole matter and everything that's happened."

"I feel sorry for [the victim] and I want to apologise to him."

Le Clair's aunt also gave evidence on Friday, telling the court her nephew had watched his father die in a car accident roughly five years ago, something that had changed him dramatically.

But she said Le Clair, who was bailed in September 2014 after 199 days in custody, had improved significantly since release.

She said he now had family rallying around him, and was busy with physical work and helping relatives with jobs around the house.

Justice John Burns will sentence the pair in late May.
