A 79-year-old NSW Rural Fire Service volunteer has died on duty in the Palerang region at Bendethera.

Jitte Nieuwenhuis, of the Krawarree brigade in the Lake George Zone, suffered a suspected heart attack late on Sunday afternoon.
Due to the remote location, fellow volunteers provided medical assistance for about two hours, including using a defibrillator, before ambulance officers arrived.
Mr Nieuwenhuis died at the scene.
A spokesman for NSW Rural Fire Service said the man was attending a fire at the remote Bendethera Camping area in the Deua National Park, about 200km south east of Canberra.
The firefighters had put out the smouldering wreck of a car when Mr Nieuwenhuis complained of chest pain. Soon after he became unresponsive.
NSW Rural Fire Service commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said the service's condolences are with the member's family and friends, fellow crew and brigade members.
"We are offering every assistance possible to the volunteer's family and fellow members," Commissioner Fitzsimmons said.
Mr Fitzsimmons visited the family at their home on Monday, and offered continuing support to those involved.
Mr Nieuwenhuis was said to be an active member of the Rural Fire Service for the past 20 years. He leaves behind his wife, Jean, three children, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
