You, our readers, are changing the way you consume news, so we've made some changes to the way we deliver it to you.
More and more users are not only reading the news on their desktop computers, but also consuming news on their smartphones and tablets. In fact, canberratimes.com.au has one of the fastest rates of growth in mobile readership in the nation. Many of you are using different devices throughout the day to stay up to date, and you want that new content quickly.
That's the focus of our new website design: to ensure we can deliver the best experience on your browser regardless of whether you are at your desk, on the couch with a tablet or on the move with your smart phone.
Some things won't change. You'll keep getting the latest news as it happens in Canberra and from across the nation and world, and you'll keep getting it here first. You'll still be getting the best analysis and comment, the inside information on the Raiders, Brumbies and the rest of the ACT's sports teams. You'll know about the latest in the city's restaurant, cafe and bar scene and all its personalities through Canberra Life.
But some things will change. The new site is adaptive, keeping consistency across devices, but also tailoring the experience whether you are on your mobile, desktop or tablet.
We've been working on the new look for the past year and testing it for the past few months through a beta site. That's where you came in, helping us to make sure we got it right.
So far, you've told us that you like what you see. The new site is easier to read and it has a cleaner look. You are able to find your way around the site on your various devices more easily because it has a more consistent look and feel.
We've also taken on board some of your suggestions on how we can make it better, and we'll keep listening to those suggestions as the site grows and develops in the future. We'll keep updating it, to make it easier and better for you. And we'll also keep trying new things, keeping the ones you like and discarding the ones you don't.
We hope you enjoy the new look of canberratimes.com.au. Send us an email to online@canberratimes.com.au and let us know what you do and don't like about the changes.
