A speed restriction of 60 km/h was put in place last month after a truck carrying an excavator damaged more than 60 metres of the Acton tunnel ceiling.

The speed restriction was imposed due to the potential risk of instability of remaining ceiling panels from updrafts caused by traffic.
Assessments of the ceiling tiles show no evidence of instability.
