Woman arrested for drink driving, leaving the scene of a crash in Canberra

A 26-year-old woman will face court next month after she was arrested for drink driving and leaving the scene of a crash over the weekend.

At about 11.15pm Saturday ACT Policing received a report of a possible drunk driver on Maribyrnong Avenue in Kaleen.

The driver allegedly swerved onto the wrong side of the road three times before running into a curb.

Earlier that evening police received information about the involvement of a similar car in a crash on Northbourne Avenue.

In this instance, a female driver fled from the scene without providing her details.

After speaking with the driver in Kaleen, police arrested the woman and transported her to the ACT Watch House.

The woman was issued with an immediate suspension notice and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a collision.

She will face the ACT Magistrates Court in April.

ACT Policing thanked the member of the public who called police.
