Woman charged with McKellar shooting

Police have arrested and charged a woman over a shooting in Canberra's north which left one man with shoulder injuries.

The incident happened about 11.30am on Wednesday in Tipping Place, McKellar. After receiving reports of a gunshot, police arrived at the address to find an injured 39-year-old outside the home.

He was taken to Canberra Hospital with minor injuries, and has since been released.

Police recovered a rifle from the scene, which is currently undergoing forensic analysis. Police said on Wednesday they were seeking assistance from a number of witnesses.

A 56-year-old woman has since been arrested and charged with discharging a firearm endangering life and unauthorised possession/use of a firearm.

She will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday where police will oppose bail.
