Woman knocked from bike and attacked
A woman was taken to hospital for treatment on Tuesday evening after being knocked off her bicycle and subjected to an indecent act in the city’s north.
Police said in a statement that the victim needed hospital treatment after the attack on a bike path on William Slim Drive in McKellar just before 9pm.
Investigators say she was hit from behind and fell to the ground as she rode along the path, and was dragged into nearby grassland by her attacker.
She was rescued by another man who was passing by on his bicycle and heard the disturbance.
The offender fled on BMX bike in the direction of central Belconnen.
Police want to hear from anyone who saw a man, about 183 to 190 cm, with a solid build riding a dark-coloured BMX bike around Lake Ginninderra on Tuesday night.
The woman was taken to Calvary Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the incident.
