Women assaulted in Latham
Two women were indecently assaulted in separate incidents in Canberra’s north on Monday afternoon, according to police.
Witnesses are being sought after the women were attacked while walking through the suburb of Latham.
In the first incident, a woman was walking near Latham Primary School on Stretton Crescent about 4.30pm, when a man riding a skateboard wearing bright green shorts approached and indecently assaulted her.
The woman yelled out, and the man, described by police as tall, slim, about 16 to 18 years old and Indian or Aboriginal in appearance, fled towards Rudall Street and Joske Place.
Later in the evening, about 8.20pm, a woman was walking her two dogs along a bike path adjacent to Denny Street and Solomon Crescent, when she was indecently assaulted.
The woman screamed and the man ran down a footpath adjacent to Dalley Crescent.
The second offender is described as being mid-40s, thin ‘quite fit’ build, 175-180cm (5’9”-5’11”) tall, short dark hair with grey speckles in it. He was wearing fluoro green shorts and a grey t-shirt.
Police are not treating the incidents as related at this stage.
