The grants are partly funded by proceeds of crime confiscated by the ACT Government, which have boosted the program's funding by $100,000, increasing the pool of money up for grabs to $310,000.

Attorney-General Simon Corbell said community organisations and groups could apply for funding for projects in three categories, including intervention initiatives, projects engaging the private sector in addressing domestic violence, and projects addressing the diverse needs of women and children who have experienced domestic violence.

"The government is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of victims of crime, including provision of adequate support and this grants program will be important to achieving this," he said.

Minister for Women Yvette Berry said domestic, family and sexual violence required a coordinated response beginning with prevention, addressing legal and support services at times of crisis, and including post-crisis and perpetrator intervention work.

"This collaboration reflects the importance of working across government to ensure women and children in the ACT are supported to be safe and free from the fear of violence," she said.

The Women's Safety Grants program is a joint initiative of the Justice and Community Safety Directorate and Community Services Directorate, as part of

the ACT Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Strategies 2011-2017.
