Intensive care paramedics treated the woman aged in her 20s for smoke inhalation before she was transferred to The Canberra Hospital after a garden shed on Maughan Crescent caught fire.
A second woman was also assessed but did not require hospital treatment.
ACT Fire and Rescue with help from an ACTEW electrical safety officer have confirmed the blaze that destroyed the shed was sparked by an overloaded power board.
The fire comes on the first day of the official bushfire season, which has also seen firies douse a grass fire on Pine Island in Tuggeranong.
Four ACT Rural Fire Service and ACT Fire and Rescue units had extinguished the fire near Pine Island North Road as of 5.44pm.
Police will investigate the cause of the blaze.
