A man who assaulted his wife and told her it was her job to give him oral sex has made a plea to avoid jail time.

The ACT Supreme Court heard the Kambah resident, 44, ignored the distress and crying of his wife as he pulled her hair, sat on her feet and pinned her to the bed before forcing her face into his lap.
The woman said in court documents the incident on July 10 lasted for nearly an hour, and the couple's three children were at the home at the time.
Crown prosecutor Jane Campbell said the man had been drinking heavily on the night of the incident and showed "instantaneous remorse", pleading guilty at the first available opportunity to the two charges laid.
But she said a jail sentence was appropriate, with the behaviour coming amid clear refusals from the woman to requests for sex.
Ms Campbell read excerpts from court documents which she said showed the man belittling the woman on the night.
"Do you think crying is going to get you what you want?"
"It's your job to do it. Your tears are turning me on."
The man was charged with an act of indecency and of an assault with an intent to have sexual relations.
The defendant told the court on Monday he had received counselling assistance for his "problem with hard spirits", and had learnt to develop more patience. He had not consumed alcohol since the incident, he said.
He said his relationship with his wife was "going well", but she was not ready to talk. The man returned to live at the couple's home after bail conditions were amended on July 28.
The man accepted his wife's comment that the violence was not an isolated event during the marriage, and said he acknowledged his actions would cause psychological harm to his children.
Defence barrister Andrew Fraser said his client posed a "nearly negligible" risk of re-offending and called for any jail sentence to be suspended.
The pre-sentence report said community service or periodic detention was not suitable.
Ms Campbell said the man had no criminal history. She did not have any information on the wife's views on his sentencing.
She said there was no evidence to suggest the children did hear the incident, but their proximity to the event meant they may have.
Acting Justice David Robinson reserved his decision and said a sentence would be released this week.
