    CARLTON 1.2, 2.4, 3.7, 5.7 (37)
GOALS: Port: Gray 4, Westhoff 3, Wingard 3, Neade 3, Schulz 2, Wingard 2, Ebert, Boak, White, Monfries, Hartlett. Carlton: Gibbs, Waite, White, Casboult, Yarran.

There will be four nervous coaches tonight - John Longmire, Al Clarkson, Chris Scott and Ross Lyon - as Port Adelaide signalled its intention to be a genuine flag contender.

Power cruised to a 103-point victory over Carlton at Adelaide Oval to keep their top-four hopes alive.

The 20.20 (140) to 5.7 (37) win elevates the Power to fourth and has taken their percentage from 126.5 to 132.9 (Fremantle, equal on points, has a percentage is 128.8).

If Fremantle defeats Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday, as expected, Power will be back to fifth.

Port plays Fremantle in Perth in Round 23 in what could be a play-off for fourth spot.

In front of 52,505 fans - a record crowd at a Port match - the Power were ruthless and relentless from the first bounce.

Robbie Gray did his Brownlow hopes no harm after his 31 disposal, four-goal game.

"He's had one of the best individual years I have ever seen," Kane Cornes told Fox Footy after the match.

"To come from where he has with his knee injury, he got fit and now he is elite."

Skipper Travis Boak, who had 27 possessions and kicked a goal, said the Power is coming good at the right time.

"If you want to compete in September, you've got to make sure you finish top four," he said.

"We have to keep improving. We have to go up another notch."

The only good news for Carlton is Marc Murphy's concussion is not serious, although early signs suggest he probably won't front up against the Bombers next weekend.

    33 secs remaining.

    Q4 31 MINS PORT 140 CARL 37

Hartlett spears one to Wingard. He kicks the goal.

    Q4 28 MINS PORT 134 CARL 37

    Q4 28 MINS PORT 128 CARL 37

    Polec kicks a behind.

    Q4 26 MINS PORT 127 CARL 37

Polec to Gray. Kicks his fourth. Power by 90.

Jay Schulz is being carried off by trainers. His head hit the turf really hard after contest with Jamison.

    Q4 21 MINS PORT 121 CARL 37

Yarran kicks a late goal for Carlton. He is limping around at full forward. Calf injury?

    Q4 18 MINS PORT 121 CARL 31

Boak streams down the wing, as he has all night, kicks it long and finds Schulz. One behind only.

How was that NOT a free kick to Simon White?

    Q4 10 MINS PORT 120 CARL 31

Schulz to Gray, who marks 35m out. Gray can't kick his fourth.

    Q4 8 MINS PORT 119 CARL 31

    Q4 2 MINS PORT 112 CARL 25

Monfries marks cleverly in front of Simpson (touched?). Hits the post.

    Q3 30 MINS PORT 111 CARL 25

Score review: Moore's shot at goal is adjudged a behind... it hit the fingers of Simpson.

    Q3 28 MINS PORT 110 CARL 25

Free to Lobbe in the ruck contest. Very strange decision; it looked like Lobbe was the one who infringed. His shot is on the full. 2.50 left.

Matt White subbed off; Moore gets his chance.

    Q3 26 MINS PORT 110 CARL 25

Monfries is the beneficiary of Neade's good work on the arc. The former marks in the square and hits the scoreboard.

    Q3 23 MINS PORT 104 CARL 25

Simon White breaks the drought for Carlton. Beat Carlile in a one-on-one... snapped on his left. Good goal.

    Q3 19 MINS PORT 98 CARL 19

Opportunist attempt by Menzel is a behind.

    Q3 17 MINS PORT 98 CARL 18

Pittard to Boak. Boak nails it. Port could crack the ton before the last change.

    Q3 14 MINS PORT 92 CARL 18

Neade's kick isn't his best due to the Carlton pressure but it doesn't matter because it falls in the arms of Westhoff. He now has three.

    Q3 10 MINS PORT 86 CARL 18

Westhoff recovers after dropping the mark and soccers through his second goal.

    Q3 9 MINS PORT 80 CARL 18

Gibbs finds Menzel on his left. His kick holds its line. One behind.

    Q3 7 MINS PORT 80 CARL 17

Port works it quickly from defence into attack... ball falls to Gray whose hands a quick to Neade... he has three.

    Q3 3 MINS PORT 73 CARL 17

Yarran to Waite. Mark paid. From 30m, he misses to the right.

    Q3 5 MINS PORT 74 CARL 16

    Rushed behind to the Power.

    Q3 3 MINS PORT 73 CARL 16

Neade bobs up for his second goal. Carlton just not doing enough with their kick-ins.

    Q3 1 MIN PORT 67 CARL 16

Wingard floats across the front of the pack to take a spectacular mark. His shot at goal is off-target.

Third term has begun. Power lead by 50.

Gray one on one wins the contest but can only conjure a behind.

1.40 to go in the half.

    Q2 33 MINS PORT 64 CARL 16

Holman, on debut, spots up Waite on the arc. He indicates he wants to have a shot straight away. He doesn't even make the distance and Pittard is allowed to wander out of defence.

    Q2 31 MINS PORT 65 CARL 16

    Polec's turn to miss.

    Q2 30 MINS PORT 64 CARL 16

Port back in the four according to the 'live ladder' (if siren went now).

Kane Lucas will come on. This is his sixth game. He's playing for his career.

Concussion to Marc Murphy. He'll be stretchered off. Sub will come on. I wouldn't expect him to take any further part.

    Q2 17 MINS PORT 57 CARL 14

Cornes to Wingard who marks in the pocket. He goes to full forward where Westhoff marks uncontested. Goal to the Hoff.

Port pushes forward but Rowe, who's had a terrific year, marks.

    Q1 2 MINS PORT 0 CARL 1

Judd's shot at goal misses to the right.

Judd marks inside 50. The kick came from Jamison. This would be the perfect start for the Blues.

Robbie Gray playing on the ball first up for the Power.

Carlton gets the first free in a rucking infringement so Carlton goes inside 50 first.

Boak has won the toss for Port. Not a lot of breeze to speak of so it won't have a huge impact.

Tim Lane has tipped against Carlton tonight. You don't see that too often. He is leading The Age tipping in the paper. I think the Blues might cause an upset tonight in a close one... Blues by seven points.

All-Australian contenders from these two sides:

Port: Gray, Schulz, Wingard, Westhoff, Lobbe, Boak. Blues: Murphy, Simpson, Gibbs, maybe Yarran (though he has butchered it in past month).

    Port's losses this year:

    North 7 pts; Syd 4; Adel 26; Ess 2; Rich 20; Coll 6; Syd 26.

That's four losses under 10 points.

    No real blow-outs.

    Carlton's losses this year:

    Port 33 pts; Rich 12; Ess 81; Melb 23; Coll 34; Bris 7; Geel 5; Haw 28; GWS 9; Coll 15; Syd 71; Frem 5; Geel 6.

That's five losses under 10 points.

    Seven losses under 20 points.

    Nine losses under 30 points.

    FINAL INTERCHANGES
Port Adelaide: Cam O'Shea, Ollie Wines, Jared Polec
    Substitute: Andrew Moore
Carlton: Sam Docherty, Tom Bell, Blaine Johnson
    Substitute: Kane Lucas

Carlton led for the majority of the game when these sides met in Round 1, only to be run down by the fast-finishing Power, which won by 33 points. Justin Westhoff was brilliant that Sunday night. The Blues will need to peg him down if they are a chance tonight.

Good evening and welcome to Friday night footy. It's Port, playing to keep their top-four hopes alive, against Carlton, who have hit a bit of form at the back-end of its disappointing season. Amazingly, it's the first time Port will host on Friday night since 2011. That night on May 6, just 21,819 fans turned up. You can double that and then some tonight based on the awesome crowds that have been flocking to the revamped Adelaide Oval. As always, post your comments in the Comments section throughout the night. I look forward to hearing from you.
