PORT ADELAIDE 5.6, 9.12, 16.15, 20.20 (140)
CARLTON 1.2, 2.4, 3.7, 5.7 (37)
GOALS: Port: Gray 4, Westhoff 3, Wingard 3, Neade 3, Schulz 2, Wingard 2, Ebert, Boak, White, Monfries, Hartlett. Carlton: Gibbs, Waite, White, Casboult, Yarran.
DISPOSALS: Port: Gray 31, Hartlett 27, Boak 27. Carlton: Gibbs 29, Curnow 22, Rowe 19.

There will be four nervous coaches tonight - John Longmire, Al Clarkson, Chris Scott and Ross Lyon - as Port Adelaide signalled its intention to be a genuine flag contender.

Power cruised to a 103-point victory over Carlton at Adelaide Oval to keep their top-four hopes alive.

The 20.20 (140) to 5.7 (37) win elevates the Power to fourth and has taken their percentage from 126.5 to 132.9 (Fremantle, equal on points, has a percentage is 128.8).

If Fremantle defeats Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday, as expected, Power will be back to fifth.

Port plays Fremantle in Perth in Round 23 in what could be a play-off for fourth spot.

In front of 52,505 fans - a record crowd at a Port match - the Power were ruthless and relentless from the first bounce.

Robbie Gray did his Brownlow hopes no harm after his 31 disposal, four-goal game.

"He's had one of the best individual years I have ever seen," Kane Cornes told Fox Footy after the match.

"To come from where he has with his knee injury, he got fit and now he is elite."

Skipper Travis Boak, who had 27 possessions and kicked a goal, said the Power is coming good at the right time.

"If you want to compete in September, you've got to make sure you finish top four," he said.

"We have to keep improving. We have to go up another notch."

The only good news for Carlton is Marc Murphy's concussion is not serious, although early signs suggest he probably won't front up against the Bombers next weekend.

33 secs remaining.

Free to Lobbe in the ruck contest. Very strange decision; it looked like Lobbe was the one who infringed. His shot is on the full. 2.50 left.

Matt White subbed off; Moore gets his chance.

Monfries is the beneficiary of Neade's good work on the arc. The former marks in the square and hits the scoreboard.
