A big win for Port Adelaide sends it top of the table after six rounds, ahead of Hawthorn and Geelong on percentage. Port started the game on the back foot but was able to get back into the game. And when the Power was in, that was it. They ran away with the game, having all the answers for the Cats who mounted a brief challenge in the third quarter. It was a comprehensive win for Port.

AFL behind

Another two behinds close out the game for Port Adelaide, but it's not enough to bring down the mood of the crowd.

Oh dear! Young misses after a turnover from Geelong inside 50. Young received the ball in space over the top, had the option to pass off but decided to go himself. For all intents and purposes he was at the top of the square. But he managed to slam the ball into the post.

From directly in front, Tom Hawkins goes back and narrows the margin a little more. It makes no difference to Port though - they'll finish the day on top of the ladder. Hawthorn will sit second and Geelong slips down to third place on percentage.

Q4 - 20.44

Behind to the Cats, rushed through.

Jimmy Bartel pegs one back for the Cats, squeezing one home from the set shot after leading hard and finding space against his opponent. Margin back to 44 points with 5 and a half minutes left.

Q4 - 15.15

Goal to Travis Boak! The Power has absolutely run away with this one now. It's 50 points the margin.

AFL behind

Q4 - 11.19

A behind now to Wingard, who chastises himself like he's missed the match-winner.

Q4 - 10.45

Behind Port Adelaide. Matt White the scorer. With 12 minutes left, the Cats would need a miracle - Port Adelaide has the ascendency.

Q4 - 7.31

Wingard goes back-to-back! Somehow he was left loose in the goal square and he got one over the top and had just enough time to slam the ball on his boot. Quick play from the centre clearance caught the Cats out there.

Q4 - 6.23

Speaking of square-ups! Port reflects the unselfish play that Geelong and Hawkins showed earlier. Wingard is the recipient of the kick, but unlike Varcoe, he makes no mistake.

And Port's sub had a hand in that play too. Great first touch by Impey, who is on the ground for Sam Gray.

AFL behind

Q4 - 3.54

The Cats go forward again! They've silenced the crowd a bit, but Port is able to rush a behind. It's back to 30 points the margin.

AFL behind

Q4 - 3.20

Great square-up from Hawkins! He had the ball 30 metres out and had the chance to kick for goal. Instead he bent the kick around to find Varcoe on a better angle. Unfortunately though Varcoe lets him down with the kick - doesn't convert.

Q4 - 1.15

Tom Hawkins opens the scoring in the final quarter. He out-muscled and out-bodied his opponent in Carlile and then was able to slot the goal from 15 metres out. They are still 32 points down though, the Cats.

THREE QUARTER TIME

Siren sounds and the home crowd is up, clapping and cheering. They were challenged, but able to hold off the Cats and keep a healthy lead. Have the Cats got anything left to throw at the Power in the final quarter? It remains to be seen, but so far Port has had all the answers.

Q3 - 30.29

From outside 50 Hartlett has a set shot, on a pretty tight angle. The crowd geared up to cheer that one home but it faded left. Just a behind. But Port seems to have the momentum back here.

And it's half on here - Jay Schulz and Cam Guthrie having a few words to one another - helped along with a fist or two holding each other's jumper.

Geelong has activated its sub. Taylor Hunt is on the ground, Josh Walker the man subbed off.

Q3 - 26.08

Free kick for a hold in the ruck to Lobbe. He goes back and slots the goal! Meanwhile, Young, who took a heavy hit earlier in the quarter, is back on the ground.

goal

Q3 - 22.28

Goal Port! Or is it? It is! Score review shows a Gray of a different kind - Sam Gray - just getting a boot to the ball right on the goalline. Margin back out to 30 points - that was a bit of a steadier for the Power.
