Jed Adcock has been unveiled as a Brisbane Lions' co-captain for the 2013 season.

Rebounding defender Adcock will share the captaincy duties with star forward Jonathan Brown as the club goes through a transition period in leadership.

Coach Michael Voss on Wednesday also announced Tom Rockliff and Daniel Rich as vice-captains in a four-man "captain's group".

Adcock, 27, rated his appointment as a huge honour but tipped he may only be a short-term leader at the club as young guns Rich and Rockliff are ushered through.

"It's massive honour," he said. "This club has a great tradition going back years with two other clubs in Fitzroy and the Brisbane Bears.

"On field nothing changes for me."

Brown had originally told coach Michael Voss he would be happy to relinquish the captaincy role to a younger leader before being convinced to ease the transition period.

The triple-premiership star said every player at the Lions had huge respect for Adcock, who has served as vice-captain since the end of 2008.

"The most important thing for a captain is on-field and he brings really good on-field direction," Brown said.
