Collingwood defender Nick Maxwell says teammate Alex Fasolo was ‘drifting off’ when he pushed, pointed and shouted at him during Collingwood’s victory over West Coast on Saturday.

“Look, in the heat of the moment you do what you’ve got to do to get the job done,” Maxwell said on 3AW.

“Fas is still obviously learning a new position and I really believe that he’s going to be good down at half back with his kicking power but he’s got to win his one-on-ones first. 

“His starting points are really good, and then he’s just drifting off and probably (not) concentrating, so a couple of times I told him what I wanted from him and he just hadn’t quite done what I’d asked of him.

“So I had to get across there and make sure I told him in no uncertain terms that he had to make sure he changed it and got it right.

“Obviously at half-time the first person I went to was Fas and he goes ‘Mate, no problems at all. That’s exactly right (and I) want you to keep being hard on me’ ..."
