Demons look to VFL
Melbourne pair Mitch Clark and Jack Trengove may return to senior football via the club's VFL affiliate, having stepped up their recovery from foot injuries.
Clark and Trengove rejoined full training last week but both are touch-and-go propositions for the Demons' round one match against Port Adelaide on March 31.
The Demons complete their pre-season against Gold Coast on Saturday but the Casey Scorpions are scheduled to play the following week, and Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney said Clark and Trengove were among several who could play in that match.
Clark missed the second half of last season after suffering a Lisfranc tear to his right foot, while Trengove was diagnosed with a hot spot in his left foot before Christmas.
''Mitch is back in full training now. Now what we're doing is just continuing to build him up, bit by bit,'' Mahoney said.
The Demons will play the Suns on Saturday morning on the Gold Coast, with Jordie McKenzie and Jack Viney likely to rejoin the side after missing Saturday's game against St Kilda.
Chris Dawes (hamstring) could miss another week, while Rohan Bail has almost completed his time away from contact training after receiving two head knocks during training in January
