Double-blow for suspended Silvagni
Alex Silvagni's Friday nightmare against Taylor Walker has had an unfortunate post-script, with the Fremantle defender offered a one-match suspension that would keep him out of the Claremont side for this weekend's WAFL grand final.
Silvagni, making only his fifth AFL appearance of the season in the semi-final loss to the Crows, was soundly beaten by Walker, who kicked five goals in a match-turning performance.
Silvagni was also cited today by the Match Review Panel, which assessed a "headbutt" on Jared Petrenko during the third quarter as being intentional conduct, low impact and high contact.
The incident was categorised as a level three offence, drawing a two-match suspension, which can be reduced to a single game with an early guilty plea.
If Silvagi takes the plea, it would rule him out of Sunday's WAFL grand final between Claremont and East Fremantle.
Silvagni would also miss the opening match of Fremantle's home-and-away season in 2013.
Fremantle has until midday Tuesday to decide whether to challenge Silvagni's suspension.
In other MRP news, contact between Fremantle's Hayden Ballantyne and Adelaide's Luke Thompson was also assessed.
Ballantyne's second-quarter bump was deemed not to constitute forceful high contact.
